CBD is gaining popularity because it is almost identical to compounds that the body makes itself.
These natural compounds are called "endocannabinoids" and they influence how the body and its systems adapts to stress. Science is showing that they are in nearly every other system in the body including the brain and immune system.
Because of CBD's similarity to your own natural compounds, the body can readily absorb and utilize CBD to assist the healing power from within.
No matter the source, both phytocannabinoids and endocannabinoids are utilized naturally by your body. The receptors that interact with these compounds are located in every system in the body.
This amazing network of receptors is collectively called the Endocannabinoid System or “ECS" and is present in all ages.
We continue to be amazed that our body’s natural healing compounds are nearly identical to those found in the hemp plant.
Research continues to suggest, the endocannabinoid system is critical to maintaining overall health and adapting to life's daily stressors.
Given the tragic side effects that synthetic drugs can have, we understand concerns about correctly dosing CBD.
Thankfully, CBD cannot make you “high,” nor is there any research suggesting that you can “overdose.” Like food, your endocannabinoid system uses what it needs and safely eliminates what it doesn’t. Whew--one less thing to worry about.
That said, you don’t want to take more than you need or be wasteful. We’ve found that 5-10mg is the ideal dose for beginners. Try this dose twice a day for a week and track your results. If you feel like you need more for your goals, you’re safe to add on 5-10mg at a time until you find your perfect balance.

Rooted Apothecary’s full spectrum organic CBD hemp oil is extracted with a gentle CO2 process from the aerial hemp flowers. This is very important, as most CBD oils are derived from the entire plant including stalks and seeds. This means they often lack a complete terpene and cannabinoid profile including CBC, CBG, THCV, THC, CBV. Mother nature created at least 120 terpenes and over 113 cannabinoids in the hemp plant, many of which we are still learning about. The combined benefits of terpenes and other cannabinoids is called "entourage effect." This "entourage effect" is produced when multiple cannabinoids interact with each other. Hemp oil is extracted from the flowers while hemp seed oil is extracted from the seeds, both offer different profiles and benefits.
Our full spectrum products contain other cannabinoids like CBN, CBG, CBC and other compounds, while having less than the federally legal THC limit of 0.3%. Our THC-free products contain only hemp-derived CBD.
Taken at the recommended dosage, our products usually last 3 to 6 weeks. Once opened, products are best when used within 12 months.
Due to FDA regulations, we cannot make health claims regarding the effects of CBD. However the internet has thousands of sources for scientific and anecdotal evidence. We recommend searching for credible CBD studies on pubmed.gov and greenmedinfo.com.
CBD is legal at the federal level, if it made people intoxicated, this would not be the case. So no, CBD will not make you high.
CBD oil that is extracted from industrial hemp is federally legal. According to the 2018 Farm Bill, Industrial hemp is defined as having less than 0.3% THC, which is what produces the "high" that makes cannabis or "marijuana" famous. CBD is a different compound, therefore it will not generate that effect. This is part of the reason why CBD is not controlled like THC. However, state law may vary, we recommend doing your own research before purchasing.
When shopping for CBD products you must ensure purity, dosage, and source with lab testing. All of our products are run through a precise lab testing process to ensure their purity and dosage accuracy. We only source our products from the best organic farms out of Colorado.
