You've heard people say that if you can't pronounce an ingredient, don't use it! But is that always the best plan of action? We want to give you the confidence and the knowledge to go forward and make educated decisions regarding your family's health! We have decided to start a series on the top toxins where we will investigate several areas of home life, personal care, food, and more while giving you the tools to make the best decisions for you and your family.
Scientists have studied pollution in our environment (air, water, and land) for decades, but only recently have they really began to study pollution in humans. A study by Environmental Working Group (EWG) called 10 Americans, showcases how 287 toxic chemicals showed up when testing lab results of 10 random individuals, with an average of 200 chemicals found in each of them. The most alarming of all was notably the 212 industrial chemicals and pesticides that had been banned more than 30 years prior to this study. They had been "pre-polluted" through the umbilical cord blood of their mothers. This launched one of the first ever studies of pollution in-utero. Previously scientists had thought that babies were safe from toxins and pollution through protection form the placenta, but that, unfortunately, doesn't seem to be the case. Industrial pollution begins in the womb. Although this may feel very heavy, it is important to know that just because a chemical is found in someone doesn't mean there is going to Biological or environmental damage, but what it does mean is that there is reason to be concerned and we need to do all that we can to minimize those exposures.
When most people think of toxicity the next thing that comes to mind is "detox". There are tons of companies out there that aim to detox your body and rid it of toxins using magic pills, juices, soaks, and more! But we think there should be a slightly different approach.
Detoxification is what our bodies do naturally, without any particular diet or plan – all day, every day, our body works to neutralize, transform, and remove harmful substances (toxins).
We want to support that system and limit the toxins you are exposed to.
With that being said the best to help your body detox is to minimize your exposure and allow your body to detox itself.
Throughout this series we are going to equip you with the knowledge you need to start the detox process in your home with your daily products and practices! We will also share Dr. Cade's favorite toxic free brands and products to make the switch to a toxic-free household!
